Hello Jim,
A feature of the year 6 transition program at Mount Dandenong Primary School is a series of interactive forums that aim to help equip students with the skills necessary to face the challenges of secondary schooling and adolescence.
The speakers and topics vary from year to year – apart from our opening speaker.
Jim Asimakopoulos(OAM) has launched this initiative for the past 5 years with a forum titled “Making The Most of Your Life.”
Everything in Jim’s life has been a challenge, but he has never given up. His achievements surpass many of those considered “able bodied.”
The students at Mount Dandenong find Jim inspiring. He helps to put everyday setbacks into perspective. Jim also enables all of us to see beyond first impressions to the person inside and appreciate that we all have the potential to achieve – we just need the resilience to bounce back from difficulties and disappointments and keep going.
Jim has made a significant contribution to the ongoing development of our students and the school community greatly appreciates Jim’s commitment to Ability Awareness and personal achievement.
